Pecha Kucha Podcast

Posted: August 5th, 2008, by ladywurlitzer

I’ve been meaning to publish this post for ages and ages and I’m sorry for the ridiculous delay.  The house refurb isn’t exactly lending itself to bloggy worklife!  Nearly there now though!

Anyway, you may remember back in May that I was invited to be a guest speaker at Pecha Kucha in Glasgow.  Hosted by the Creative Entrepreneurs Club at The Arches, I presented 20 slides all based around things which inspire and motivate me and make me smile.  Lucky old you can see/hear the full event - all dozen speakers -  for yourself  by following this link :o)

Happy viewing!

Kris Kristofferson Soap?

Posted: June 16th, 2008, by ladywurlitzer

This Sunday, 22nd June, marks the 72nd birthday of country music legend Kris Kristofferson.

As many of you will know by now, Kris Kristofferson is one of Lady Wurlitzer’s very, very favourite musical acts and she is a huge fan of classic movies, Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore and Convoy!

To celebrate this joyous occasion, Lady Wurlitzer isn’t just hosting the Kris Kristofferson birthday party at [We Are] Fuzzy Felt Folk (at Macsorley’s Music Bar, Glasgow), but she’s making a very special range of Kristofferson soap bars! Oh yes… Country soap has arrived! It was only a matter of time really wasn’t it? Soap bars will be given away as birthday treats at the party on Sunday. The fun begins at 2pm and goes on into the evening. Expect live music, free cake, bingo and a Kristofferson inspired dj set from Lady Wurlitzer.

Va-Va Vintage!

Posted: June 16th, 2008, by ladywurlitzer

The Glasgow Craft Mafia host this lovely event at the QMU on Saturday 28th June as part of the fabulous West End Festival.

On the marketeer list for this event are vintage fashionistas, Pistol Whip Vintage and newcomers to vintage retail in Glasgow, Retro City.  Of course, you can expect to see collections of vintage inspired goodies from your favourite Mafia members too.  Music will come from the very splendid Sharon McHendry and her coveted vinyl collection!  How fitting?!

Ordinarily Lady Wurlitzer would be in attendance at such a wonderful market event, but unfortunately a diary clash deems this impossible :o(   Lady Wurlitzer and her beau are off to London Town on their holidays that weekend so instead of selling vintage in Glasgow, there’ll be much buying of vintage treasures in The Big Smoke!

Success at The Lighthouse!

Posted: May 28th, 2008, by ladywurlitzer

First of all, I need to offer my sincere apologies for the weird silence on the site recently! Due to issues with my web hosting company, all havoc broke loose on www.ladywurlitzer.com and this is the first access I’ve had to the page since last Friday. Things are still not fixed properly, but at least some people (depending on whether you use Internet Explorer or not it seems) can see the website!

Well, what a fun time we had at Made In The Shade on Saturday! Lady Wurlitzer & Nana Moon were most pleased to meet lots of new customers and I had such a lovely day chatting with passers by! The feedback received was overwhelmingly positive, so thank you to those who made it along! Thanks to Lucy and Diana and Lesley. Thanks to Colin and Ally and Jen and Graeme. A very special thank you goes to Davina and cutey-pie munchkin Caleb (how lovely it was to see you both!) and special thanks to the loyal customers who made it into town for the occasion! A swell ole time was had by all. Fellow marketeers seemed to have a ball and thanks to the MITS organising teams from the Mafia and The Lighthouse, everything went according to plan - smooth as knitters balm!

Even if you didn’t catch the issue prior to Made In The Shade, you might still wish to read the wonderful feature in The List! All that hard press work finally paid off! :o) Hoorah! Click here to read the online version of the article. the print version is much more glamorous!!

2 More Sleeps!

Posted: May 22nd, 2008, by ladywurlitzer

My hand smells like violets. I was just adding some scrumptious fragrance oil to some scrumptious lotion base and a little bit dripped on me. I love violets.

Well, after a bit of a panic and some tantrums, preparations for Made In The Shade are coming together as they oughtta. The soap is wrapped, the lotions are labelled and the balms are ribboned. I just need to type up the all important product info and practice my table layout and I do believe I may be organised. Hoorah! Oh, but then there’s the packing up… My least favourite bit!

Nana Moon however, is not quite so prepared, so attention will be transferred to her once the suds are taken care of!

I’ve just taken a few snaps of the goings on behind the scenes of Lady Wurlitzer with the intention of previewing a few bits and pieces ahead of Saturday but now I can’t find the darn cable to attach to the laptop to get em out of the camera! I’ll post them later x

GCM Market Frolics

Posted: April 28th, 2008, by ladywurlitzer

Well, after nigh on two days of solid hard work and frantic preparation, I managed to have both Lady Wurlitzer and Nana Moon ready and presentable for the GCM Indie Market on Saturday 26th.  Despite a bit of a shakey start in the morning (why oh why do we insist on drinking wine and listening to country music til the wee small hours the night before market day!?!) I managed to have both stalls set up in tme for opening and all seemed well.  Hoorah!

The LW nude sale went very well (just a handful of soap bars left over!) and I enjoyed meeting some new customers. It was swell to put some faces to some names too!  Lovely to meet you Fiona, lovely to meet you Lucy!

There was such a nice atmosphere at the market on Saturday.  I think the events are finally starting to take on a little personality all of their own and it seemed to appeal to the folks who managed along to see us :o)

Over the next few weeks, Lady Wurlitzer will be super-duper busy working on stock for the very exciting, much anticipated Made In The Shade event!!  Lady Wurlitzer and Nana Moon will be setting up shop at the debut event in Gallery 5 at The Lighthouse on Saturday 24th May 2008!  Woweee!!  Lots of new stock, lots of new scents and lots of beautiful new trinkets and vintage lovelies from Nana Moon!  Keep visiting the site for updates.

For those of you who missed out on a market visit on Saturday, do visit the online store to grab the last of the LW stock before the new collections arrive!
